MOORE BILL DELIVERS FAIR SHARE OF FUNDING

Local governments would receive more state revenue sharing funds under legislation introduced by Rep. Tim Moore.
House Bill 4029 changes how state revenue dollars are disbursed from the current calculation by a population percentage formula to a per-person payout.

"This legislation will more fairly fund the townships in our district," said Moore, R-Farwell. "Lansing needs to stop picking winners and losers and stop rewarding bad behavior by sending huge amounts of taxpayer dollars to municipalities that misuse and mismanage those funds.
"Every Michigan citizen is of equal value to the state, so the funds should be sent out equally to provide the same level of services."

The bill is before the House Appropriations Committee for consideration.
